Join us at Café Lucci to hear Art Muir describe his daring journey to the top of Mt. Everest entitled "It's not about the Summit: It's about the Effort.” Art started climbing later in life than most at the venerable age of 68. Since then he has summited the highest mountains on six of the seven continents, including Mt. Everest in 2021, when he became the oldest American and the third oldest person ever to stand on its summit. Follow along as he takes us from Base Camp, through the dangerous Khumbu Icefall, up the forbidding Lhotse Face and finally to the highest point on earth. This program is not only an explanation of how he climbed Everest, but also a tribute to those who made it possible for a retired attorney from Chicago to achieve his lifelong dream.
Donations may be made to the “Juniper Club” benefitting families of Sherpas killed while assisting climbers in the ascent of Mount Everest.
